Essex County Library hires new chief librarian

Adam Craig is the new Chief Librarian at the Essex County Library.

He starts his new duties on September 12.

The Essex County Library said Craig is well acquainted with the library system, having supervised the Ruthven branch and then as the virtual public services librarian. Most recently, he was the manager of public services with the Windsor Public Library.

"I am thrilled that our new Chief Librarian has such an extensive knowledge of our local library system and such deep roots in the Essex County community," said Acting CEO Kristie Cronin. "He is a passionate, versatile leader who will bring out the best in his employees while providing Essex County residents a library system in which they can all be proud."

Craig earned his Honours Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy at the University of Windsor. He graduated in 2006 and completed his Master's of Library and Information Science at Western University in 2011. In 2017, he completed a program at the Northern Exposure to Leadership Institute.

Craig replaces Robin Greenall. She was the Chief Librarian and CEO of the Essex County Library until her dismissal in May.

The library system has 14 branches and was established in 1966.
