Unanimous strike mandate backs union in ElringKlinger talks

Unifor Local 444 is back at the bargaining table with another auto parts maker in Windsor-Essex, and this time support from its members to strike if need be could not be higher.

Over the weekend, workers at ElringKlinger voted 100 per cent in favour of strike action if the company and the union do not reach a deal by 12:01 a.m. Saturday, March 27.

The Leamington plant employs 130 unionized workers.

Talks between Unifor and ElringKlinger started last week, and the current contract expires at the end of the day on Friday.

The union local recently reached deals with four other auto parts makers that supply the Windsor Assembly Plant, HPBO, Dakkota, ZF-TRW, and Avancez.
