Windsor police have identified and charged a man believed to have been involved in a suspicious interaction with a young girl.

The girl reported she was approached on California Avenue around Girardot Avenue in late August. Based on the conversation, she felt the man had seen her in the past. According to police, he provided her with hand-drawn pictures that resembled her.

Police released photos of the suspect Tuesday afternoon and he was quickly identified by members of the public.

The 49-year-old man was arrested and charged with criminal harassment.  The charge has not been proven in court.

Police are also asking parents to discuss stranger danger with their children, and talk about what to do if they are approached by someone they don’t know. Police also¬†advise children to always travel in pairs in busy, well-lit areas. They should also know how to call 911 in an emergency and report suspicious behaviour to a trusted adult.
