Expanded visitor hours at Fort Malden

As promised, Parks Canada is expanding visitor hours at Fort Malden Historic Site in Amherstburg.

It reopened two weeks ago from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on the weekends. Now it will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through to Sunday.

The visitor centre and gift shop, museum and heritage buildings, and public washrooms are open.

There is an admission fee, and visitors need to come prepared to pay by debit or credit card. Fort Malden is not taking currency. You can also buy a Discovery Pass online in advance.

Parks Canada said visitors and staff's health and safety is a priority, so visitors will have to wear a mask inside public indoor spaces and maintain social distancing.

Costumed interpreters will be stationed at select locations at Fort Malden to engage with visitors and share stories of life at the fort. If the weather cooperates, there will be outdoor musket demonstrations.
