Fort Malden reopens Saturday

Visitor services will be limited, but Fort Malden National Historic Site reopens this weekend.

Visitors can visit the museum and heritage buildings between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. on the weekends starting Saturday.

The public washrooms, visitor centre, and the gift shop will be open.

Depending on the weather, there will be outdoor musket demonstrations by costumed interpreters.

There is an admission fee, and Parks Canada encourages visitors to be prepared to pay by credit card or debit or buy a Discovery Pass online before coming.

"The health and safety of visitors and employees is of utmost importance to the Government of Canada," read a release from Parks Canada. "Parks Canada is following the advice of public health experts and continues to make every effort to limit the spread of COVID-19. Visitors should follow the advice of public health experts, including necessary hygiene practices and physical distancing of two metres from others."

Parks Canada hopes to expand visitor hours in August.
