More problems for Pelee ferry

For the second time in less than 24-hours, Pelee Island Transportation has run into mechanical issues with one of their ferries.

Monday morning around 10 a.m., officials with Pelee Island Transporation announced that, during one of its sailings, the Jiimaan went to anchor in order to "shift fuel in the vessel." According to their Twitter page, the operation was planned to take 30 minutes. However, three hours later, the boat remained stranded in Lake Erie with passengers on board.

"Resolution is taking longer than expected. We are sending food supplies out to ship for passengers as well as additional engine room help," read the Twitter post.

The Jiimaan was being used for backup service after fishflies put the Pelee Islander II out of commission on Sunday morning. As of Monday afternoon, no updates had been posted on the status of the Pelee Islander II or when it will be back in use.

As the Jiimaan remains anchored, several concerned customers reached out to Pelee Island Transportation on Twitter, inquiring about refunds and how much longer it would be before the situation was resolved.
