OPP identifies two killed in Father's Day crash

The Ontario Provincial Police have identified two young people killed in a single-vehicle crash over the weekend.

Police said four teens, ranging in age from 13 to 17, were in a vehicle that left Mersea Road 1 at Mersea Road 19 in Leamington, at around 8 p.m. Sunday. The car rolled over and landed submerged in a water-filled ditch.

One of the teens managed to get out of the vehicle, but emergency services workers had to free the other three. All were taken to hospital with injuries that ranged from minor to life-threatening.

The OPP announced Monday that one teen had passed away, and Constable Jim Root said Wednesday afternoon that another has since died of their injuries.

The two deceased have been identified as Nicholas Wiebe, 15, of Leamington and Henry Reimer, 13, of Wheatley.

Root said a 17-year-old youth remains hospitalized and a 14-year-old was not hurt.

The investigation into this incident continues. Anyone with information who has not already spoken with police is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
