OPP investigating fatal crash in Leamington

A teen has died in the hospital after a single-vehicle crash in Leamington.

Police said four teens, ranging in age from 13 to 17, were in a vehicle that left Mersea Road 1 at Mersea Road 19 around 8 p.m. on Sunday. The car rolled over and landed submerged in a water-filled ditch.

One of the teens managed to get out of the vehicle, but emergency services workers had to free the other three.

They were all transported to the hospital with injuries that ranged from minor to life-threatening.

The crash shut down Mersea Road 1 for hours between Mersea Road 19 and Mersea Road 17 for several hours overnight as investigators from the Technical Collision Investigators Unit worked but reopened just before 6 a.m. Monday morning.
