Lambton College highlights scholarships, award recipients

Local advocate, Dan Edwards, is one of this year's scholarship and academic award recipients at Lambton College.

The school said hard-working and high-achieving Lambton College students are receiving more than $440,000 this year.

More than 150 students who have earned awards will be celebrated during the annual Academic Awards lunch ceremonies, being held on Tuesday and Wednesday.

“On behalf of Lambton College, I would like to congratulate all of our Academic Award winners for their hard work and dedication. We are thrilled to recognize and celebrate these exceptional students,” said Lambton College President and CEO Rob Kardas.“I would also like to thank the partners and donors who make our scholarship and bursary program possible. Their kindness and generosity have a significant impact on our mission of student and community success, and we are truly grateful.”

Some of the award recipients highlighted by the college in a media release were Edwards and Desiree Brolley, recipients of the Jessica Nethery Scholarship.

Edwards received the scholarship to pursue social services. Edwards is known in the community as one of the founders of the Do It For Sarnia campaign, which is now known as the Block Party, a concert series in Sarnia that raises funds for mental health programs and services at Bluewater Health.

Edwards has also given motivational speeches to students about overcoming challenges and leading a positive life.
