Disappearances of three Sarnia men not believed to be linked, police say

Sarnia police say the disappearances of three men in the city appear to be unrelated.

"Despite the recency of these cases we have no reason to believe they are linked in any way," Cst. John Sottosanti stated in a news release Thursday. "All missing person cases are taken with the utmost seriousness and investigated thoroughly. This includes organized searches, soliciting the public for assistance, and other investigative techniques."

City police continue to search for three individuals.

Trevor Chaput, 34, was reported missing in July. The Criminal Investigations Division announced about a week later that Chaput's disappearance was being treated as suspicious. Officers conducted a grid search of an area near Lasalle Line, east of Highway 40, in August. Their search for Chaput was unsuccessful. In September, Sarnia-Lambton Crime Stoppers doubled its reward for information related to Chaput's disappearance.

Sarnia police announced a search was being conducted for Trevor Morley-Wood, 40, on November 23. He was last seen in the area of Devine Street and Christina Street, along the riverfront, November 22. Members of the Sarnia Police Service Emergency Response Team and the Criminal Branch conducted a search along the St. Clair River, beginning at the gravel docks at the west end of Devine Street. The search was unsuccessful.

Sarnia police asked for help to locate Dustin Ireson, 33, on November 28. His vehicle was found in the area of Harbour Road a few days later.

Anyone with information on any of the three individuals is asked to call the Sarnia Police Service at 519-344-8861 ext. 5300 or Sarnia Lambton Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
