COVID-19 cases reported at four more schools, death toll reaches 70

Sarnia-Lambton's death toll since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic has climbed to 70.

Lambton Public Health reported the latest death linked to the virus Friday. Bluewater Health reported on Thursday the individual was a 77-year-old male patient.

The local health agency told Blackburn News that "as public health units are health information custodians, Lambton Public Health cannot disclose the vaccination status of individuals."

The health unit reported 13 new confirmed infections Friday, putting the total caseload up to 3,809 and eight more resolved cases up to 3,676, increasing the active case count by four to 63.

There are two active outbreaks at Gregory A. Hogan and at Bkejwanong Children’s Centre at Walpole Island First Nation, unchanged from Thursday.

The Lambton Kent District School Board updated its COVID-19 advisory page to show two confirmed student cases at P.E McGibbon Public School in Sarnia, one student case at Kinwood Central in Forest and a confirmed case among staff at Lansdowne Public School in Sarnia. All schools remain open.

The St. Clair Catholic District School Board is reporting a new student case at St. Matthew in Sarnia.

Bluewater Health has zero COVID-positive patients in hospital.
