Sarnia-Lambton sees another increase in weekly COVID-19 incidence rate

Lambton Public Health reported just one new case of COVID-19 on Wednesday.

Two recoveries were also reported, which brought the active case count down to 18.

Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 3,677 confirmed cases in the region and 3,591 resolved cases.

Bluewater Health has one COVID-19 patient in hospital.

Sarnia-Lambton’s COVID-19 incidence rate went up last week.

The rate of infection per 100,000 population for the week of August 15 to August 21 was 12.2, an increase from 11.5 reported the week prior. The positivity rate also went up from 1.29 per cent to 1.41 per cent.

To date, 72.3 per cent of the region's eligible adult population has been fully vaccinated against the novel coronavirus. The health unit said 19.2 per cent of youth have received two vaccine shots.
