Director of Interval Home, Sexual Assault Survivors' Centre resigns

The executive director of the Women’s Interval Home and the Sexual Assault Survivors’ Centre has resigned.

Angie Marks shared in a Facebook post recently that the decision has been heartbreaking, but it is the best one for her health and family.

"I am deeply saddened, however I know that both of the amazing teams at these agencies will continue to provide the essential services in our community extremely well," said Marks. "It has been a pleasure to be part of the violence against women sector and I will continue to be an advocate at some capacity."

Blackburn News reached out to Marks for further comment, but has yet to hear from her.

The fundraising and marketing strategy coordinator for the Women's Interval Home, Kyla Goodhand, confirmed Marks departure and provided a statement on behalf of the board of directors of both organizations.

“We respect her decision and the work she has done and will do in the arena of violence against women," the statement read. "We wish her only the best in her future. A job posting will be available in regard to filling the role of executive director for both organizations. We have no additional information or comments at this time. “

Marks took over the role in 2019 when Michelle Batty retired after 27 years.
