The new executive director of the Sexual Assault Survivor's Centre and Women's Interval Home will focus on prevention, enhancing services, public awareness and education.
Angie Marks takes over at month's end when Michelle Batty retires after 27 years.
Marks is currently director of services at the Women's Interval Home.
She said she realizes she has some pretty big shoes to fill.
"She's been with the Sexual Assault Survivors Centre for 27 years and has been part of the Women's Interval Home for the last five years, she has left a huge impact in our community in her efforts to stop both domestic violence and sexual violence," said Marks. "She's also been very involved in many different committees."
Marks grew up in Sarnia and started her work at the Women's Interval Home in 2007 as a relief counsellor.
There's a public open house Thursday, April 18 honouring Michelle Batty for her years of service to the community.
It's on from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. in the Gateway Room at the St. Clair Corporate Centre on Front Street.
