Staffer at Meadowview Villa tests positive for COVID

A staff member at Petrolia's Lambton Meadowview Villa has tested positive for COVID-19.

Lambton County said the administration team at the home learned of the positive result Friday, January 1, and people living in the long-term care home and their families were notified.

In a statement the county said Lambton Public Health has declared an outbreak in the Finch Lane neighbourhood in the home. The employee last worked in the home December 29, 2020 and was not symptomatic at that time. Residents were being tested Friday and no residents had required isolation at the time of the statement. Staff testing was also ongoing.

"The care and wellbeing of the people who live at Lambton Meadowview Villa remains our top priority," said Jane Joris, General Manager, Long-Term Care Division. "We are actively working with Lambton Public Health and following the guidance provided to us, in addition to diligently following the protocols and procedures put into place by the ministry of health and the ministry of long-term care at all of our homes."

Lambton Meadowview Villa is home to 125 people, and employs almost 200 staff members in a range of occupations from nursing, to food service, to recreation and environmental services.
