Sarnia woman charged in late August rooftop car crash

A 54-year-old Sarnia woman faces multiple charges in a spectacular late August crash that saw a vehicle land on the roof of a home in the city's north end.

Sarnia police said two vehicles collided at around 6:40 p.m. on August 29 in the area of Christina Street and Michigan Avenue.

One vehicle fled the scene, struck a utility pole, went airborne, and landed partially on the roof of a home at Christina Street and Lakeshore Road. There was extensive damage to the home, and another vehicle parked in the driveway was also struck.

The driver, who allegedly blew 3.5 times the legal limit, was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and released the next day.

On Tuesday, September 15 Andrea Lynne Woolfrey was charged with criminal offences including impaired driving, dangerous driving, and failing to stop at the scene of a crash.

She was released on an undertaking.

Sarnia police thank the public for its assistance in the investigation.
