COVID-19 cases in Lambton surpass 250

The number of local COVID-19 cases in Lambton County has surpassed 250.

Lambton Public Health updated its website Monday night to report a total of 251 confirmed cases of the virus, up from 248.

A total of 180 people have recovered, and the death toll currently stands at 21.

The health unit is also reporting another institutional outbreak after a staff member at Lambton Meadowview Villa tested positive for the virus. This is the second outbreak reported at the Petrolia long-term care home.

An outbreak was also declared on April 15 at the facility, but no other cases were confirmed following ramped-up testing and it was lifted on April 23.

One more staff member has tested positive at Vision Nursing Home in Sarnia where 22 residents and 20 staff have been confirmed to have COVID-19. As of Monday morning, Lambton Public Health said 13 of those cases had been deemed recovered. There have been six related deaths at the Wellington Street home.

Institutional outbreaks are ongoing at Sarnia's Marshall Gowland Manor and at Village on the St. Clair, but additional cases have not been reported at either facility since outbreaks were declared on May 15.

Bluewater Health reported Tuesday that four patients are confirmed to have the virus and 21 are suspected of having it with tests pending.
