Another COVID-19 death linked to Vision Nursing Home

Lambton Public Health is reporting another COVID-19 related death in the community, bringing the death toll to 21.

According to the health unit's website, the latest victim was a resident at Sarnia's Vision Nursing Home.

The long-term care facility has been dealing with an outbreak since April 23. To date, 22 residents and 19 staff members have tested positive for the virus. Six of the 21 deaths have been linked to the Wellington Street home. Lambton Public Health said as of Monday morning, 13 related cases have been deemed recovered.

Vision has surpassed Landmark Village Retirement Home as the worst institutional outbreak in Sarnia-Lambton. The outbreak at Landmark had 40 confirmed cases, including 10 staff, and six deaths. It was declared over May 6.

In the last week, Lambton Public Health has reported 23 new cases for a total of 248 overall, while 14 people have been deemed recovered for a total of 177.

Bluewater Health reported Monday that four patients are confirmed to have the virus and 18 are suspected of having it with tests pending.
