Bluewater Borderfest to feature iconic 80s Rock Pack

The final night of this year's Bluewater Borderfest will feature some classic hits from the 80s.

Lou Gramm of Foreigner, Kelly Keagy of Night Ranger, and John Payne of Asia will perform in Sarnia's Centennial Park August 11.

Organizer and Tourism Sarnia-Lambton Executive Director Mark Perrin said the act will put an exclamation point on a great weekend in the community.

"The group's been playing together a few shows in the last two years known as the Rock Pack, so they've been selling out stadiums in the states," said Perrin. "I think they'll be a great act to close out the epic weekend with The Tall Ships Festival, ARTZscape by the Bay, and Borderfest by ending everything with the classic songs of Foreigner, Night Ranger, and Asia."

Perrin said it won't be long until the full lineup for the third annual Bluewater Borderfest is revealed.

"So we're just working on finishing a few contracts for Friday and Saturday, and waiting to see if some of the grants get approved to possibly add a Thursday in there as well," said Perrin. "So a couple of things are up in the air but we're really hoping the acts get signed here this week, and we get Saturday night's lineup announced prior to when tickets go on sale on May 16 at 10 a.m."

About 7,500 people attended the second annual music festival, surpassing 2017's total of 5,000.

Perrin said they're confident even more people will attend this year.

"I think the internal goal is around 10,000 people for the event this year-- we would be very happy with that," said Perrin. "We're just looking to keep growing this year with the support of our community, and bringing people to Sarnia-Lambton to show what we have to experience and offer."

Perrin said they're hoping to attract a lot of out-of-towners to Sarnia for the 2019 festival.

"That's the number one goal we really have. A lot of marketing is really focused on how we can bring people to Sarnia, and I think throughout Michigan right now it looks like there's a lot of interest already happening. We're really excited to extend that reach 100 kilometres plus, and make sure people are driving in to see the show."

Tourism Sarnia-Lambton announced last November that the event is partnering with Artzscape by the Bay, and Sarnia's Tall Ships Festival.
