Added wind in the sails of Tall Ships Festival

There's even more wind in the sails of Sarnia's Tall Ships Festival next summer.

Tourism Sarnia-Lambton announced Monday that the event is partnering with Artzscape by the Bay, and the Bluewater Borderfest Music Festival.

Special Events Coordinator Vicky Praill said once they secured the date for the tall ships, they reached out to the other two events about a joint celebration.

"We thought it would be a great fit to have those events on the same weekend and have a larger sort of impact on the audience that we can reach by having a music festival, art, and then the tall ships."

Praill said there'll be something for everyone to do.

"They'll be able to see the ships, go to music concerts, and buy beautiful art as well. So I think it's a great fit, and it will definitely be a historic weekend for our community, as well as our visitors," she said.

Tourism Sarnia-Lambton says hosting the three events will offer a powerful marketing platform for the region.

The last time the Tall Ships Challenge made its way to Sarnia was in 2003.

The weekend-long event is set for August 8 to 11.
