Police issue warning after harassment suspect released on bail

London police have taken the step of warning the public after a suspect in a series of harassment incidents in the city was released from custody.

Police announced Friday afternoon that, in the interest of public safety, they are issuing the warning about Saranjeet Singh, 22, of London. He is a suspect in six such incidents and is facing several counts of criminal harassment. Singh was released on bail Friday.

Singh was initially charged after three women reported to police that, as they walked on the campus of Western University the night of October 18, a man driving a black Honda Civic followed them. On the same night, a man in a black Honda Civic approached an 18-year-old woman on Elgin Road and gestured for her to get into his car. Then, on October 19, a 21-year-old woman was walking on Elgin Road around 5 p.m. when a man in a black Honda Civic passed her. The driver turned the car around before stopping directly in front of her. Singh was arrested and charged with five counts of criminal harassment by repeated following.

A few days later, Singh was arrested again after a 21-year-old woman reported that a man driving a black Honda Civic followed her at a slow rate of speed as she walked to a home on Patricia Street.

Police say none of the women were known to the suspect.

"If seen, the public is advised to not approach or engage with the accused. If there are any concerns for safety, call 9-1-1," police said in a statement issued Friday.

Singh is described as having a dark complexion, five-foot-eight in height, weighing 150 pounds, with brown eyes, short black hair, and a full black beard.
