Health Unit, School Boards announce locations for pop-up vaccine clinics

If you're looking to get a COVID-19 vaccine, a pop-up clinic could soon be coming to your neighbourhood.

A day after the Middlesex-London Health Unit announced it would be rolling out pop-up vaccination clinics at ten schools in the region, a list of the schools that will host clinics over the next three weeks has been announced:

 - Monday, June 21: Sir Arthur Carty Catholic Elementary School: 1655 Ernest Avenue, London

 - Tuesday, June 22: John Paul II Catholic Secondary School, 1300 Oxford Street East, London

 - Wednesday, June 23: Westminster Secondary School, 230 Base Line Road West, London

 - Thursday, June 24: Clarke Road Secondary School, 300 Clarke Road, London

 - Friday June 25: North Middlesex District High School, 100 Parkhill Main Street, Parkhill

 - Tuesday, June 29: Montcalm Secondary School, 1350 Highbury Avenue North, London

 - Wednesday, June 30: Sir Fredrick Banting Secondary School, 125 Sherwood Forest Square, London

 - Monday, July 5: Glencoe District High School, 3581 Concession Street, Glencoe

 - Tuesday, July 6: Strathroy District Collegiate Institute, 361 Second Street, Strathroy

All the clinics run between 1:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

If you'd like an appointment at one of these clinics, the online booking tool can be found here, or you can call 226-289-3560.

“We’re providing it first to the families in those schools, and that’s really because the clinics are targeted at those populations where we know COVID rates have been high and/or the vaccination rates have been low,” said Medical Officer of Health Dr. Chris Mackie when asked about why these schools were targeted. “Right now, the prioritization around these schools is very much data driven.”

On Thursday, Mackie said at least 70% of people aged 12 and older in the community have had at least one dose of the vaccine. He added 8.3% of people in the same age group have had two doses.

There were just three new cases of COVID-19 announced by the Health Unit on Friday.
