Sunny skies and several competitors made for a great day during the 83rd annual Chatham-Kent Plowing Match.
The event was held this past Saturday at a farm in Chatham. A banquet followed the event on Saturday evening where several awards were handed out. Among the awards was a tiara, where 13-year-old Megan Devries, from the Dresden area, was crowned as the 2019-2020 Chatham-Kent Princess of the Furrow.

Devries follows outgoing Princess of the Furrow Hanna Reid and joins Chatham-Kent's Queen of the Furrow Lauren McKerrall. The Chatham-Kent Princess of the Furrow program is geared towards young girls in the municipality, in an effort to generate more interest in the agricultural sector and open up more opportunities.
Some of the highlighted awards handed out Saturday evening went to Kyle Ross for best-plowed land (15 and under), Robert Dakin for best-plowed land (open to CK), and Brendan Apers for best-plowed land by a 4-H member.
The Jeff Atkinson Memorial Scholarship was also awarded to Sarah Campbell.
