Hwy. 401 Baby Returns To CK

A bond between local paramedics and a Brantford family continues to grow strong.

It was in March of 2017 that local paramedics helped Lindsay Margeson give birth to her now 1-year-old son along Hwy. 401. About a year later, the 401 baby, Hunter and his family celebrated the occasion in Wallaceburg.

"When I was stuck on Hwy. 401 delivering a baby, Chatham-Kent EMS came to me and they went above and beyond what they really had to do," says Margeson.

"They came out to Hunter's first birthday and we've seen them throughout the year," she says. "They're just a great bunch of people. They have a job but the past year definitely hasn't been in their job description at all, they just go above and beyond for everybody."

As someone who enjoys to give back, Margeson says she wanted to give a donation to Chatham-Kent EMS. However, they directed her to the Chatham-Kent Children's Safety Village.

"It felt like the right thing to do, just to pay it back," says Margeson.

On Friday, the family gave a $455 cheque to the local safety village, money that will go directly into programs at the Children's Safety Village.

"We're always very thankful and grateful for any donations because we're an autonomous charity, we're not funded by the province or municipality," says Barb Lovell, executive director of the Children's Safety Village. "Donations are very big and go right back into programming."

In the meantime, Margeson says she plans to keep in touch with Chatham-Kent EMS crews.
