Windsor's Parking App Proving Popular

Have you used the City of Windsor's new parking app yet? A lot of people have.

The city says there have been 2,200 transactions in the app's first month of operation. The service started December 18.

"We've done just a minimal amount of marketing because the name of the app is actually going to change soon, but it's working well," says Parking Compliance and Enforcement Supervisor Bill Kralovensky.

The company that provides the app is Passport Parking Inc., and the Canadian arm of is Passport Canada. That has caused some confusion since the company has nothing to do with citizenship or travel passports.

Users will have to download the app to their smartphones. Instructions on how to use it have been posted on parking meters. The app allows drivers to pay for parking on their credit card.

The new app will not replace coin payment, and drivers who still wish to pay for parking by cash still can.
