UPDATE: Flood Warning For Windsor-Essex (GALLERY)

A flood warning for Windsor and LaSalle remains in effect as rainfall continues.

The Essex Region Conservation authority says water in roadways in Lakeshore and Tecumseh has begun to recede. However, heavy rain falling Tuesday afternoon has resulted in flooded roads throughout the city of Windsor and the town of LaSalle.

Tim Byrne with the ERCA says according to their precipitation meters, the city was dumped on Tuesday afternoon. He says at around 2pm, the Grand Marais tracking site was recording around 80 mm of rainfall and by 3:30pm it was measuring 170 mm.

Widespread reports of basement flooding continue to come in from Lakeshore, Tecumseh and east Windsor.

The public is advised to avoid those roads with water on them, and those that live on them should drive with extreme caution.

Children, pets, and livestock should be kept away from flowing and standing water.

Environment Canada has reported extreme rainfall in many parts of Essex County where anywhere from 57.4 mm fell in Windsor, to more than 140 mm outside Essex Centre.
