If someone doesn't appear to be a real police officer, they likely aren't.
That's the message from police in London, after a concerning post was made on social media about an individual being pulled over by someone impersonating a police officer.
While investigators say the story proved to be false, the incident has prompted police to release safety tips to keep in mind, if ever you're pulled over by an unmarked police cruiser.
If you can't clearly identify that person as being an officer, whether by uniform or a police badge, police suggest contacting their dispatcher to confirm their identity, and asking for a supervisor or a marked vehicle to attend your location. The emergency lights should also be built into unmarked police vehicles.
Police say don't be alarmed, as it's not uncommon for unmarked vehicles or non uniformed officers to be in operation on the streets, but do trust your instincts.
