Another Toronto sports venue will require fans to either be vaccinated from COVID-19 or show proof of a negative test before they're allowed in.
The Toronto Blue Jays announced Monday that fans will need to show proof of a shot or a negative COVID-19 test to attend games at Rogers Centre starting with the homestand beginning September 13, 2021 against the Tampa Bay Rays.
TSN reported that the change was being made ahead of the final batch of this season's tickets being put on sale.
All staff and fans 12 and older will be required to follow the new policy. Kids 11 and under are exempt if they are accompanied by an adult who is either vaccinated or has proof of a negative test.
Fans are also required to wear face coverings in all public areas of Rogers Centre unless they are in their seats or actively eating and drinking.
Rogers Centre is the latest Toronto venue to set up a vaccine policy for fans. Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment began requiring fans last week to be vaccinated or have a negative COVID-19 test. That policy covers all events at Scotiabank Arena and BMO Field.
The Blue Jays returned to playing home games in Toronto last month, after being forced to play "home" contests throughout 2020 and part of 2021 at its spring-training compound in Dunedin, Florida, and at Sahlen Field in Buffalo, the home of the club's Triple-A affiliate.
