Jr. hockey wrap-up - December 9, 2018

Jared Ratko stopped all 34 shots he faced as the Amherstburg Integrity Admirals shut out the Wheatley Omstead Sharks 4-0 Sunday night at the Libro Centre.

It was the fifth straight win for Amherstburg, who are in third place with 37 points in the PJHL Stobbs Division. Wheatley is in sixth place with 24 points.

It didn't take long for the Addys to strike first, and Travis Campbell did so at just 66 seconds into the opening period for the lone score of the opening 20 minutes. There was no scoring in the second period, with Amherstburg outshooting the Sharks 8-7.

The Admirals scored three goals in the third to put the game away. Josh Talerico, Josh DiCarlo and Andrew Clark were the goal-scorers in order.

Catalin Morin stopped 18 out of 22 shots in goal for the Sharks.

Wheatley is next in action Wednesday night when they host Mooretown. Amherstburg faces the Flags next Sunday night.

Sebastian Stubberfield and Cameron Symons each scored a hat-trick in the Blenheim Blades' 9-1 home win over the Wallaceburg Lakers.

Blenheim is now tied for sixth place in the Stobbs Division with 24 points. The Lakers are still winless with just two points on the season.

The Blades put up a trio of goals in the first frame. Keir Cumming only needed 49 seconds to put up the first one. Symons hit the net for the second goal over four minutes later, and Stubberfield added a power play goal later in the period.

Stubberfield struck again early in the second period with a power play goal, before Wallaceburg got on the scoreboard on a Josh Remsik goal. The Blades then scored three more unanswered goals, with Symons' second, followed by Connor Wright, then David Cooke.

Stubberfield and Symons both completed their hat-tricks on power play goals in the third period. Will Tetzlaff had six assists for the Blades.

Blenheim goalie Chris DeWulf was pulled after two periods and Tyler Letchford backstopped the third period. Both combined for 25 saves. Patrick Timpany had 43 saves for the Lakers.

Wallaceburg hosts the Petrolia Flyers on Wednesday night. The Blades visit those same Flyers Thursday.

The St. Marys Lincolns and St. Thomas Stars skated to a 3-3 tie at the Joe Thornton Recreation Centre.

Both teams receive a point for the stalemate. The Stars have 26 points in the Western Conference and are in sixth place. The Lincolns are in last place with 16 points.

Jake Robinson scored the only goal of the first period at 14:20, putting the Stars up 1-0.

The Lincolns took the lead on back-to-back goals in the second stanza. Carter Schoonderwoord scored the tying goal at 6:19, then Austin Maietta's lamplighter gave St. Marys a 2-1 second-intermission lead.

St. Marys added another goal early in the third period when Tanner Hertel found the net. Goals by Sean McGurn and Liam Fedak forced the overtime period with the score at 3-3.

The Lincolns outshot the Stars 7-4 throughout both overtime periods.

Anthony Hurtubise had 46 saves in goal for St. Thomas. Kyle Curtin stopped 38 shots for St. Marys.

The Stars travel to LaSalle on Wednesday, while St. Marys visits Sarnia on Thursday night.
