Jr. hockey wrap-up - November 11, 2018

Cory Burns capped off a wild overtime period with the winning goal, giving the Amherstburg Integrity Admirals a 2-1 win over the Lakeshore Canadiens at the Libro Centre Sunday night.

The Admirals pick up the two points, but remain in fifth place in the PJHL Stobbs Division with a total of 24. Lakeshore gets one point and stays in fourth place with 25.

The first period was a scoreless tie. Lakeshore dominated Amherstburg on shots 10-3 in the first 20 minutes. The second period was also scoreless until Colin Sartor broke through with a power play goal for the Canadiens, six seconds before the second intermission for a 1-0 Lakeshore lead.

The Addys evened the score and forced overtime when Max Clifford put the puck in at 8:40 of the final period. Ten seconds before the end of the overtime stanza, Lakeshore appeared to have scored the winner but it was waved off. Burns' goal came with three seconds left in the extra frame.

Ben Larder stopped 28 shots in goal for Amherstburg. Nolan Hakr had 17 saves for Lakeshore.

The Admirals will play their fourth game in five nights on Tuesday when they travel to rival Essex. The Canadiens welcome Blenheim and Friday night.

Keir Cumming opened the scoring, and closed it as well in the Blenheim Blades' 4-3 overtime win over the visiting Wheatley Omstead Sharks.

The Blades now have 14 points in the Stobbs Division and are in seventh place. The Sharks are head in sixth, but stay pat at 19 points.

There was no scoring in the first period until Cumming found the net with three seconds left for his first goal of the night. Dede Cato made the score 2-0 Blenheim with a power play goal at 9:33 in the second period. Wheatley cut the Blades' lead in half 49 seconds later on a Drew Denomey lamplighter, but Cato scored a second time to get the two-score lead back and a 3-1 Blenheim advantage after 40 minutes of play.  Tristan Edmondson was pulled from the Wheatley goal and replaced by backup Catalin Morin.

The second segment, though, was made memorable by a huge brawl that resulted in a total of 12 players receiving game misconducts for assorted infractions, six on each side.

The Sharks bit back with back-to-back goals in the third period. Alixe Saliba scored at 16:55, then Curtis Rodrigues scored the tying goal a minute and 40 seconds later to send the game into overtime. Cumming scored the winner at just 22 seconds in.

Chris DeWulf had 26 saves in the victory for the Blades. Morin and Edmondson had 35 saves between them for the Sharks.

The two teams completed their home-and-away series Wednesday night at Wheatley.
