Jr. hockey wrap-up - September 30, 2018

A mammoth second period was all the Amherstburg Integrity Admirals needed Sunday night.

The Admirals scored seven goals in the middle frame, dominating the Wallaceburg Lakers 8-0 at the Libro Centre. Goalie Ben Larder stopped all 23 shots he faced in net for the Addys for his second straight shutout.

Amherstburg is tied for second place with the Lakeshore Canadiens in the PJHL Stobbs Division with eight points. The Lakers have yet to score a point.

Cory Burns scored the lone goal in the first period, which was on the power play at 5:17. The rest of the Admirals goals were scored before the 14-minute mark in the second period. Caleb Paquette scored two goals, while Michael Hatch, Cole Welsh, Kyle Meloche, Dean Deluca and Max Clifford each chipped in one.

In all, Burns and Josh Talerico had four points apiece.

Patrick Timpany had 20 saves out of 28 attempts in goal for Wallaceburg.

The Lakers travel to Essex on Tuesday night while Amherstburg hosts Dresden next Sunday.

The Rockets have two points but remain in last place in the GOJHL Western Conference. Komoka is in sixth place with six points.

Franklin scored his first goal at 8:25 of the first period. Spencer Proulx followed suit just over three minutes later with a power play goal to make the score 2-0 Strathroy at first intermission.

The Kings clamored back into the game and briefly took the lead by scoring the first three goals of the middle frame. The Rockets then tied the game at 4-4 when Ryan Warner lit the lamp, then regained the lead permanently before the end of the period with Daniel Aspro's goal.

Strathroy put the game out of reach later in the third period with back-to-back goals from Carson Perry and Franklin. Chase Strychalk scored with the extra attacker for Komoka, but Strathroy's Michael Wood's power play goal gave the Rockets a three-goal margin once more.
