Jr. Hockey Wrap-Up - October 22, 2017

Ryan Alexander scored the overtime winner in the Amherstburg Integrity Admirals' 3-2 win over the Essex 73s at the Libro Centre.

The Addys are tied for sixth place in the PJHL Stobbs Division with the Wheatley Omstead Sharks with 11 points. The 73s are in third place with 16 points.

It was a perfect first period, with no scoring and no penalties called. The two rivals then played "I score, you score" in the second period. Dylan Muzzatti opened the scoring for the Addys on the power play at 2:22 in the frame. The 73s responded at 14:22 with a goal by William Stadder. Amherstburg took the lead again a little over a minute later when David Cooke scored, though the score was tied by the second intermission when Essex's Adam Gaiarin lit the lamp.

There was no scoring in the third period and each team had one shot at the power play. Amherstburg had three shots in the overtime with one of them being Alexander's goal at 2:02.

The 73s outshot the Admirals 31-21 in the contest. Ben Larder had 29 saves for Amherstburg while Tyler Ryan had 18 for Essex.

Essex hosts Petrolia Tuesday night while Admirals head to Blenheim Thursday.

Nick Delyzer scored a hat trick as the Blenheim Blades dominated the Wallaceburg Lakers 9-0 at home.

Chris DeWulf only faced 15 shots in goal for the Blades and stopped them all, his first junior hockey shutout.

Delyzer completed his hat trick in the first period of action, with two other goals from Dede Cato and Ryan Malott for a 5-0 Blenheim lead after one frame.

Four more goals came from Blades skaters in the second period, off the sticks of Cato, Christian Moccia, John Montgomery and Lucas Fancy.

There was no scoring in the third but four players received misconducts for inciting an opponent. The guilty Blenheim players were Derek Hueni and Brayden Seliga, while Wallaceburg lost the services of Cody Nicolaisen and Dale McMaster.

Kyle Koopmans was pulled from the Wallaceburg goal after the first period and replaced with Patrick Timpany. Together they had 31 saves.

The Lakers host Mooretown Wednesday night.

Three St. Thomas Stars scored twice as they beat the Komoka Kings 8-4 at home.

The game was noteworthy for a wild third period in which 52 penalty minutes on 26 infractions were issued for both sides. The entire game had 31 calls and a total 62 sin bin minutes.

Komoka's Joel Mazzilli picked up where he left off Saturday with the first goal of this contest, at 1:27 in the opening period. The Stars then scored three straight goals in the frame, from Mason Millman, Adam Keyes and Craig McKague in order. Kurt Watson got a goal back for the Kings before the intermission, when St. Thomas led 3-2.

The Stars had a big second period with four unanswered goals. Jason McLatchie's goals opened and closed the scoring in the middle frame, sandwiching scores from Keyes and Justin Badour. Starting Kings goalie Reagan Gies was pulled at the end of the period for backup Zach Johnston.

Komoka scored at 5:33 in the third period thanks to Andrew Kim, then St. Thomas' Badour scored his second of the contest short-handed at 7:39. Isaac McLean contributed one for the Kings by the end of regulation.

Anthony Hurtubise got the win in goal for the Stars, saving 26 shots. Gies and Johnston combined for 46 saves.
