DiPietro Gets Another Doughnut As Spits Win 3-0

Michael DiPietro recorded his third consecutive shutout as the Windsor Spitfires beat the Battalion in North Bay 3-0 Sunday afternoon.

The final horn of Sunday's game marked over 204 minutes since a puck got past DiPietro in net.  The Spits goalie stopped all 21 shots against North Bay.

The victory keeps Windsor in first place in the OHL West Division standings with 46 points, one point ahead of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, who won Sunday.

Mikhail Sergachev led the offensive effort for Windsor with a goal and an assist.  Sergachev got the first goal of the game, and his season, at just 25 seconds into the opening period.  Cristiano DiGiacinto and Luke Boka assisted on that score.  Boka would join the scoring effort with 25 seconds left in the second period to make the score 2-0 Windsor at the second intermission.

North Bay goalie Julian Sime, who got 21 saves out of the 23 fired at him by the Spitfires offence, was pulled late in the third period, and Jeremiah Addison took advantage with an empty-netter, his 11th goal of the season.

The Spitfires continue their lengthy road trip on Friday night, when they visit the Erie Otters.
