Jr. Hockey Wrap Up - December 3, 2016

Lucas Latina scored two goals for the Strathroy Rockets, but the LaSalle Vipers were able to hold them off and beat the Rockets on the road 4-3 Saturday night.

The Vipers continue to maintain their lead in the GOJHL Western Conference with 43 points.  Strathroy is in sixth place with 23.

LaSalle's Liam MacDougall got the Vipers on the board first with the opening period's lone goal, at 10:46 into the frame.  Latina's first goal would tie the game up just past the midway point of the second period.  Cale Allen would put the Vipers ahead again on a power-play tally at 13:30 into the second, but Latina would respond with another equalizer about two and a half minutes later.  Jasper Forgrave would put LaSalle ahead for good at 16:54 in the second period, for a 3-2 Vipers lead.

LaSalle picked up an insurance goal in the third from Frank Zak, though Strathroy's Ty Glover would pull the Rockets within one on a power-play goal.

Eli Billing got the win in net for LaSalle, who welcome the Chatham Maroons to the Vollmer Complex Wednesday night.  Strathroy will take on the Maroons Sunday.

Greg Hay got a score and an assist as the Mooretown Flags beat the visiting Wallaceburg Lakers Saturday night 4-1.

The Flags maintain a sixth-place showing in the PJHL Stobbs Division standings with 24 points.  The Lakers remain held to just a single win on the season so far.

Mooretown scored two goals in the first period, the first from Parker Gilhuly, the second from Ben Morrison later in the period.  Trevor Waller got the Lakers on the board in the second period with a goal at 8:13, but the Flags would respond with two more goals in the period, just over two minutes apart.  Joe Stock scored at 17:43 and Hay got his at 19:46.  There was no third period scoring.

Jake Wilkins knocked away 25 out of 26 Wallaceburg shots for the win.  Mooretown will pay Wallaceburg a visit Wednesday night.  The Lakers make a stop first in Essex Tuesday.
