Junior Hockey Wrap Up - November 27, 2016

Dallas Maurovic scored twice as the Leamington Flyers beat the Sarnia Legionnaires Sunday night 4-1 at Kinsmen Recreation Centre.

The Flyers cling to third place in the GOJHL Western Conference standings with 33 points, while the Legionnaires are in fourth with 32.

Liam Hogan scored for the Flyers just 1:27 into the opening period.  Jaydon Fetter added a power play goal at 4:58 to give Leamington a 2-0 lead.  Sarnia would get on the board before the end of the period on a Cade Robbins lamplighter, the only Legionnaires goal of the game.

Maurovic would score a goal each in the second period, then the third period.  Scott Florence got three assists for the Flyers.  Noah Hedrick stopped all but one of Sarnia's 32 shots for the win in goal.

Sarnia travels to London Wednesday to face the Nationals, while Leamington is at home Thursday against St. Thomas.

Ryan Alexander scored two goals as the Amherstburg Integrity Admirals beat the Lakeshore Canadiens 4-3 Sunday at the Libro Centre.

It would be the fifth straight win for the Admirals, who are locked in a tight four-team battle atop the PJHL Stobbs Conference standings along with Lakeshore, the Blenheim Blades and the Essex 73s.

Alexander would kick off the scoring in the game at 6:58 in the first period.  This would be followed with a Jordan Luciw goal with just one second left in the first to make it a 2-0 Admirals lead.

Ameen Fadel would pick up a goal for the Canadiens to start second period scoring, though Amherstburg would take a two-goal lead at 12:45 on Alexander's second goal, a short-handed one.  Mitch Topliffe would be pulled from goal for Lakeshore and replaced with Colin Tetreault.  Aidan Ryan would light the lamp at 17:41 to give the Admirals a 4-1 lead, but the Canadiens' Steven Sartor put in a power-play tally close to the end of the period.

Lakeshore would pull within one with the only goal in the third, from Joe Binder.  Catalin Morin stopped 35 out of 38 Lakeshore shots in goal for the Admirals.

Amherstburg heads to Blenheim next Sunday, while Lakeshore travels to Essex Tuesday night.

Justin Pinsonneault scored two goals for the Wheatley Omstead Sharks, while Nick Tavolieri-Essex and Evan Mastronardi added two assists in their 5-4 win over the Petrolia Flyers at Greenwood Recreation Centre.

The first period was scoreless, and Petrolia's first goal game with just 34 seconds gone in the second period, a power play goal from Curtis Helps, but Wheatley evened things up just 57 seconds later on a Mitch Lantin goal.  The Flyers would get two more goals in the period, with scoring from Zach VanEyk and Jack Hackett.

The Sharks would strike back with four unanswered goals in the third period.  Pinsonneault would get his first goal at 3:12 on the power play.  Delaney MacDonald would tie up the game at three-all on a goal at 9:37.  Wheatley would take the lead for good at 16:24 on a Mitchell Prudence score, and Pinsonneault got his second goal on an empty-netter with 50 seconds left in regulation.  Petrolia would pull within one on a Kole Keating goal with seven seconds left, but time ran out.

Wheatley hosts Mooretown Monday night, while Petrolia host the Sharks on Thursday.
