Junior Hockey Wrap-Up - November 20, 2016

Brett Primeau and Manny Silverio scored two goals each as the LaSalle Vipers smoked the St. Thomas Stars 7-1 Sunday night at Timken Rink.

The Vipers maintain a two-point lead in the GOJHL Western Conference standings with 37 points.

Silverio got his first goal at 1:28 in the opening period, and Tyler Russell added a shorthanded goal at 12:54 to give LaSalle a 2-0 lead after one frame.  Primeau provided the only scoring in the second period when his goal at 4:14 extended the Vipers lead to 3-0.

Ryan Brown got St. Thomas on the board in the third period, but that would be all the scoring they would get.  The Vipers scored four more unanswered goals within a span of less than five minutes.  Silverio and Primeau scored their second goals of the night, while Nathan Savage and Daniel Beaudoin scored goals of their own.

Eli Billing stopped 27 of 28 St. Thomas shots in goal for the Vipers, who host the Sarnia Legionnaires Wednesday.  The Stars face the same Legionnaires in Sarnia on Thursday.

Tristan Lewis turned away all 40 of the Leamington Flyers' shots as the St. Marys Lincolns shut out the Flyers 3-0 Sunday night at Pyramid Recreation Centre.

Caleb Adrian got two of the three goals for the Lincolns, the first of which opened the scoring at 17:35 in the second period.  Tyson Kielt and Brandon Glover got the assists.  Clayton Lewis made it 2-0 St. Marys on a power play goal in the third, with Andrew Bogdon and Justin Vandendool on the assists.  Adrian's second goal was an empty-netter to end the game, with Kielt and Lewis getting assists.

Noah Hedrick stopped 27 of St. Marys' 30 shots for the Flyers, who host Sarnia next Sunday.

In junior C, the Blenheim-Dresden game was postponed Sunday night.  The game will be rescheduled.

Caleb Paquette and Kasey Basile scored two goals each as the Amherstburg Integrity Admirals doubled up the Mooretown Flags 6-3 on the road Sunday night.

Ryan Alexander got three assists in the contest for the Admirals.

Mooretown did get off to a good start, scoring two goals in the first period within 11 seconds of each other.  Cade Robbins scored first at 8:19 while Matt Brandon followed.  The Admirals got on the board at 18:29 on a goal from Michael Hatch, though the Flags had a 2-1 advantage at first intermission.  Hatch would later get a game misconduct in the third period for checking from behind

Paquette and Basile accounted for all four of the Amherstburg goals in the second period.  Paquette scored first at 2:33 while Basile got his first just 30 seconds later.  Paquette and Basile would exchange goals again later in the period, both on the power play.

In the third period, Kyle Smith put one up for Mooretown at 15:59, but just 12 seconds after that, Dylan Muzzatti concluded the scoring for the Admirals.

Mooretown travels to Blenheim Thursday night while Amherstburg hosts the Lakeshore Canadiens next Sunday.
