Junior Hockey Wrap Up - October 29, 2016

Josh Pope-Ferguson scored two third period goals as the Leamington Flyers beat the Lambton Shores Predators 5-2 on the road Saturday night.

Broden Meloche added two assists for the Flyers, who are tied with the London Nationals for third place in the GOJHL Western Conference standings, two points behind LaSalle.  Lambton Shores is in a tie for last place in the division.

The Predators scored first on a goal from Marcel Berube, at just 65 seconds into the first period.  The Flyers got on the board at a minute and 24 seconds afterwards to tie the game on a goal by Brett Vorshuk goal.  Vorshuk would also have an assist in the game.  The Predators took a 2-1 lead into the first intermission on Max Griffioen's power play goal at 9:12 into the period.

Zak Parlette made the score 2-2 in the second period for the Flyers on a score at 17:43 in that period.  The Flyers would take over the scoring with their last three goals during the third.  Brayden Klemens scored the go-ahead goal at 1:15 in the third.  Pope-Ferguson's two goals came in the second half of the third period.

Tyler Ryan turned away 32 of Lambton Shores' 34 shots in goal for Leamington, whose next game is at home Sunday afternoon against the Sarnia Legionnaires.  Lambton Shores travels to London on Wednesday.

Noah Fox picked up his first junior hockey goal as the Blenheim Blades beat the Flags in Mooretown 4-2.

Fox's goal, along with one from Bryce Broad, helped put the Blades ahead 2-1 after one period.  Keir Cumming and Carter Wright accounted for the rest of Blenheim's scoring.

Mooretown's scoring came from Ben Morrison and Nolan Riley.

The Blades maintained their lead in the PJHL West Conference standings, six points over the Amherstburg Admirals.  Mooretown remains in the mix, tied with Amherstburg for second.

Blenheim hosts the Essex 73s Sunday, while Mooretown travels to Wheatley Monday for a Halloween night game.
