Day Gearing Up For Spits Debut

The Windsor Spitfires have new blood in the line-up, as they host the Kingston Frontenacs tonight.

Defenceman Sean Day came over in a trade with Mississauga this week and skated with his new teammates this morning.

"I know a couple of the guys, so [coming to a new team is] not as bad as I thought it would be," he says. "It's been pretty fun so far. It's been an easy transition, so it's good."

After competing on Steelheads squads that have finished either seventh, eighth, or ninth in the OHL's Eastern Conference the last three seasons, Day adds that he's excited to be part of a program which is expected to win a lot this year before hosting the Mastercard Memorial Cup in the spring.

"You see right away, there are good vibes in the locker room and the coaches are into it," he explains. "It's something new that I'm glad I'm experiencing."

As for his first game tonight, he is tempering expectations for himself, but says he looks forward to building chemistry with the players around him.

Puck drop is set for 7:05pm at the WFCU Centre.
