The Toronto Blue Jays are heading to Texas for the next round of the MLB playoffs.
Edwin Encarnacion crushed a three-run home run in the bottom of the 11th inning to give the Toronto Blue Jays a 5-2 victor over the Baltimore Orioles in the American League wild card game. Now the team is off to Texas, where the Jays will face the Rangers in a best-of-five ALDS starting tomorrow afternoon at 4:30pm ET.
In other baseball news — Tigers manager Brad Ausmus will be returning to Detroit next season. Sources say the Tigers have exercised the 2017 option on his contract.
In NHL exhibition action — Bobby Ryan scored 21 seconds into overtime to lead the Ottawa Senators to a 3-2 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs in Saskatoon.
Meanwhile — Chicago cruised past the Detroit Red Wings 6-1.
