Forward Markus Soberg and goaltender Garret Hughson have chosen to leave the Windsor Spitfires hockey club.

The announcement of their departure was made on Saturday before the Spits game against the Flint Firebirds.

“Markus has opted to explore some opportunities in Europe and Garret is headed back to Alberta,” says General Manager Warren Rychel in a media release. “I respect their decisions and wish them best of luck in their future pursuits.”

Soberg appeared in 83 games over parts of two seasons in Windsor, scoring 16 goals and adding 22 assists.

Hughson played in 12 games with the club after being acquired in a trade with the Spokane Chiefs back in October. The 20-year-old compiling a 7-4-1 record along with a 3.09 goals against average and an .895 save percentage.

Two overage spots on the Spitfires roster have now opened following their departure.
