73's Win Schmalz Game 1

The Essex 73's take Game 1 of their Schmalz Cup quarter-final series against the Exeter Hawks with a 3-0 shutout.

Rookie goaltender Noah Hedrick made 17 saves for the shutout.

"We're pretty confident in the team we have and you just know that everybody's going to step up to the plate and play their best, not just for me, but just for the win," says Hedrick. "It's a whole team effort and you've got to have faith in everybody."

The 73's peppered the Exeter net with 33 shots with Daniel McIntyre finding the back twice and Matthew Hebert notching the other goal.

The 73's are in Exeter on Friday for Game 2.
