The opening ceremonies for the 2014 Ontario Summer Games will focus on local entertainment.

On Thursday August 7 2000 athletes from across Ontario will be welcomed to Windsor with performances by the Walkervilles, Pure Dance Academy and Danielle Wade.

Show producer Christopher Lawrence-Menard says they really wanted to highlight what Windsor has to offer. “The summer games really take the best youth athletes and they celebrate the success that they’ve achieved on the provincial level. What we’ve done with the opening ceremonies is taken local performers who have achieved success locally, they’ve achieved success across the province and in some cases internationally.”

Admission to the opening ceremonies at the University of Windsor’s Alumni Stadium is free of charge. No tickets are required as seating will be first come first serve. Doors open at 5:00 pm with pre-show entertainment beginning at 5:30. The ceremonies which will include the parade of athletes begins at 7:00 pm.
