UPDATE: Windsor police investigate shooting

A 40-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder following a shooting in Windsor’s east end Friday evening.

Windsor police were called at around 6:30 p.m. after shots were fired in the 1700 block of Jefferson Boulevard, located between Tecumseh Road East and Wyandotte Street East.

Officers found a 31-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the shoulder, read an update provided by Windsor Police Service Saturday afternoon. He was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

It's alleged that the victim and the suspect were involved in an argument when the suspect pulled out a firearm.

Police said the suspect, who initially left the scene in a vehicle, returned only to be immediately arrested.

The accused was charged with the following:

- Attempt murder - Pointing a firearm - Possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes - Unlicensed possession of a restricted weapon - Possession of a firearm while prohibited

The investigation is ongoing.

Investigators are asking residents in the area to check their surveillance or dash cam footage for evidence around the time of the shooting.
