Police dog Maximus helps locate suspect after traffic complaint

Ontario Provincial Police have arrested a man after a K-9 officer found him in a Tecumseh building.

Acting on a traffic complaint on Highway 401 in Chatham-Kent Friday morning, OPP officers found the vehicle on the shoulder of the westbound lanes. Emergency Response Team members and the OPP K-9 Unit, with General Service Dog Maximus, joined Windsor police in finding the driver.

Windsor police and OPP found the person in a building on Provincial Road near the 9th Concession.

The 25-year-old from Brampton was charged with opioid possession and possession of stolen property above $5,000.

The suspect will have a chance to answer the charges in a Windsor court on July 28. Custody of the suspect was turned over to the Canada Border Services Agency due to outstanding warrants.

The charges have not been proven in court.
