OPP nab alleged impaired driver towing trailer on Hwy. 401

A Tecumseh resident will have to walk the rest of the week after a traffic stop on Hwy. 401 on Tuesday night.

An officer with the Ontario Provincial Police spotted a vehicle towing a trailer with no license plate and broken rear lights in the westbound lanes near Chatham-Kent.

The officer suspected the driver had been drinking and gave him a roadside test. It registered an alert.

The 36-year-old now faces a charge of towing a trailer with no license plate and another for not having red lights on the back of the trailer.

The OPP reminds the public they can report impaired drivers by calling 911 or 1-888-310-1122.

During Canada Road Safety Week, the OPP laid 2,600 charges in Southwestern Ontario, including 60 for driving impaired.
