Windsor rugby club has new home

The Windsor Rogues Rugby Football Club has a newly renovated clubhouse.

On the corner of Alice Street and Bernard Road, the clubhouse provides a safe and accessible space for the club to host games, tournaments, and social events.

"It's really been a project over the last four to five years of planning and getting this up and going. It's super exciting for us coming into our 60th year at the same time so there's a lot of good community evening coming up this summer," said Scott Murphy, club president.

The Ontario Trillium Foundation provided the club with a $500,000 grant to make the renovations possible.

"No one thought we would be able to accomplish this, this quickly and this soon, including myself and I've been part of it the whole time," said Murphy. "We're super excited that it came through and we're very grateful for the Ontario government and the Ontario Trillium Foundation."

Murphy said this marks the beginning of a new chapter for the club.

"The new chapter for me is all about community involvement and awareness and really starting the sport from the ground up," said Murphy. "Hopefully, we can grow into multiple junior programs and house leagues just like hockey runs."
