Driver seriously injured, charged in LaSalle crash

LaSalle police say a man was seriously hurt in an overnight collision.

Officers were called just before 1 a.m. Wednesday to a home on Malden Road near Bouffard Road. When they arrived, they found an injured 48-year-old man in the vehicle, which had apparently struck a parked vehicle, then crashed into the attached garage of the home. The driver was rushed to hospital with serious injuries, according to Senior Constable Terry Seguin.

Police say the vehicle was traveling west on Bouffard Road and failed to stop at the stop sign at Malden. The vehicle came to rest inside the garage, causing severe damage to the structure and its contents. The residents were home at the time but were not hurt.

The LaSalle police forensic identification and collision reconstruction units were dispatched to the scene. As a result, the driver has been charged with impaired driving.

Anyone who witnessed the crash and has yet to speak with police has been asked to give them a call. Investigators are also asking for any security or dashcam footage from the area of Malden and Bouffard Roads at the time of the crash.

The impaired driving charge has yet to be proven in court.
