"Bright Lights Windsor is a celebration of our community, bringing people together to enjoy the holiday season in a beautiful and engaging way," said Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens.

Last year, the event drew 100,000 visitors.

Two Amherstburg events are also listed in the Top 100. In the open-air category, judges chose Amherstburg River Lights Winter Festival and Amherstburg Open Air Weekends.

Other winners in the region included Western Fair and Dresden Night Market.

Judges also picked the top municipalities that support the success of events. Amherstburg was selected for those with a population of less than 50,000.

"This award confirms that Amherstburg is doing many things right when it comes to festivals and events," said Mayor Michael Prue. "Our festivals and events are delivered by the tourism team and supported by all town departments -- They use creative ingenuity that engages residents, visitors, and businesses."

The conference also honoured Newmarket and Richmond Hill.

In the Sponsor of the Year category, Amherstburg River Lights Winter Festival and Enbridge got top honours in the $100,000 or less category.

"Enbridge is delighted to help support the River Lights Winter Festival and other excellent programs in Amherstburg," said Denise Heckbert with Enbridge. "Every year, River Lights finds creative ways to build on their traditions with fun new ways to celebrate as a community."

Chatham Crowfest and the Blue Moutain Film Festival were winners in the Best New Festival or Event category. Port Elgin Pumpkinfest and Owen Sound River District Holiday Magic won for innovation.
