Art reflecting Canadian landscape on display at new Canadian Port of Entry

As construction continues at the Canadian Port of Entry to the new international crossing, the Windsor Detroit Bridge Authority unveiled public art that will be on display for millions of people crossing the border.

The work titled "On the Other Side of Tomorrow is integrated into the facade of the maintenance building. It consists of 22 stamped concrete panels that reflect the Canadian landscape.

Canadian artist Sara Graham was stunned to see the work in its finished state.

"I am astounded at the craftsmanship of the fabricator, it blew my mind. I did not expect everything to be so crisp and so clear," said Graham.

The Windsor Detroit Bridge Authority partnered with Art Windsor-Essex to exhibit more of Graham's work.

The exhibit will highlight the artistic process and reproductions of the art display.

"It's so interesting I think to see how artists will start with something very small, whether it's paper or drawing or collage and then how you translate that into something gigantic. It's just such an incredible way to think and see the world," said Jennifer Matotek, executive director of Art Windsor-Essex.

The exhibit opens at the gallery on March 24, 2023, and runs until May 2023.
