French Catholic board names interim education director

The French-language Catholic school board serving southwestern Ontario has announced a change at the top.

Conseil scolaire catholique Providence announced on Friday the appointment of Carolyn Bastien as its interim director of education and board secretary. Bastien succeeds Eugenie Congi, with her appointment effective immediately.

Board chairman Jacques Kenny said Bastien was placed in the position due to her lengthy experience with CSC Providence.

"In addition to her financial skills, her extensive expertise in education and management and her collaborative approach align well with the board's values," said Kenny in a media release. "Under Carolyn's leadership, CSC Providence will continue to deploy the broad directions of its strategic plan and achieve its outcomes."

Bastien has 20 years of experience with the French Catholic board, with 15 of them as the business superintendent and board treasurer. Bastien has overseen the board's facilities, human resources, finance, and information technology. She has also participated in provincial contract negotiations.

CSC Providence consists of 24 elementary schools and eight secondary schools across southwestern Ontario, in an area stretching from Windsor to Woodstock and including Grey-Bruce and Huron-Perth.
